Hawaii Nature Center

Hawaii Nature Center offers a dedicated Oʻahu Homeschool Science Series for families in Honolulu and surrounding communities. Students meet weekly for full-day, teacher-led classes that use the Makiki rainforest as an outdoor science classroom. Lessons explore ecosystems, native plants and animals, watersheds, food webs, environmental stewardship, volcanism, electricity, sound, and other science topics. The Fall 2026 program follows Hawaiʻi’s watersheds from mountain environments to coastal ecosystems while incorporating hiking, stream exploration, crafts, games, experiments, and field trips. The program is designed to build both scientific observation skills and connections between students through hands-on outdoor learning.
