Maine Maritime Museum offers dedicated homeschool classes and field trip opportunities for families in Bath and surrounding Maine communities. Homeschool students ages 9–18 can participate in hands-on woodworking and boatbuilding classes inside the museum’s working Boatshop. Students learn to safely use tools, work with wood, follow project plans, and develop practical building skills with guidance from museum instructors and volunteers. The museum also offers homeschool field trips exploring Maine’s maritime history, lobstering, historic vessels, Wabanaki culture, and local traditions. Families can explore museum exhibits or participate in additional experiences such as cruises and educational programs. The upcoming September 2026 homeschool woodworking session meets for four weeks and includes all tools, materials, and safety equipment.
